Survivors of Sexual Abuse

The impacts of sexual abuse, assault, and incest are wide reaching. Many survivors experience depression, anxiety, shame, and anger following trauma. What’s more, society often tells them to deal with their discomfort, “just get over it,” or move on. These unhelpful messages may cause survivors to avoid relationships with others or ignore their trauma altogether. A lifelong pattern of isolation and fear is common, but it can get better.

I bring my expertise in research and treatment of trauma to each session. Utilizing trauma-informed approaches, we will map out your story and help you redefine your relationship with the past. Together we can explore attitudes and behaviors that no longer serve you and replace them with new insight. No matter what stage of healing you’re in, treatment can help you make meaning of your experience and regain control of your life.
